Life without Soca is dull, monotonous existence, with limitations on how one should party, and enjoy the pleasures of life. With every rhythm of the percussions sends a movement straight to the hips. It intoxicates the mind and soul in a primal and cultural level that only a few could truly understand. Only does it on that special wavelength could comprehend the greatness of Soca, Calypso, Steel Pan. For those involved in the Soca award organization, the esteemed staff of the SAO, a profound love drives the team into an unwavering determination to see such a universally known yet fairly unpopular genre become a household name.

Founded in 2003 by a Trinidad and Tobago native, entrepreneur Mr. Colin ‘CJ’ Jackman, the Soca Awards Organization was created to bring recognition to the Soca and Calypso genre. Mr. Jackman migrated in the early 80’s to the U.S. and made his debut on the Soca stage in 1989 with the hit “Poison in the Party”. In 2001 &  2002 he was the first runner-up in The Young Kings of Calypso Monarch competition in Trinidad. In 2003 his positive tune “When Ah Mother Cry” took him to higher heights in winning the Arima Calypso Monarch competition. In 2006 he was awarded the Upliftment and Improvement (U & I) Award in New York City by, Ms. Monica Sanchez, CEO of CCNMGI & CIP org., for his key leader ship role towards the upliftment and improvement of Caribbean Culture and Soca music, which was presented to him by actor & humanitarian Mr. Danny “Diehard” Glover. The SAO has toiled especially for one particular Award show among the various community efforts - the International  Soca Awards (iSA). 

In 2003, Mr. Jackman staged the first SOCA AWARDS Red Carpet ceremony at The Soca Arena in Brooklyn, NY. 2004 the 2nd annual Soca Awards was held at the historic Eden Place in Brooklyn. In 2005 the 3rd iSA was staged in the Mecca of Steel Pan & Calypso/Soca, Trinidad & Tobago. Endorsed by the Honorable Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs Mrs. Joan Yuille-Williams, and the Honorable Minister of Tourism Mr. Howard Chin-Lee. 2006 the awards ceremony was registered and trademarked as the International Soca Awards (iSA) showing the world that Mr. Jackman is committed to taking the Soca Industry to an International platform. That same year (iSA 4) was held at Club Tobago Queens NY. In 2007 history unfolded in Queens NY; the exclusive Rum Jungle was transformed into a white carpet affair (iSA 5). Changing the color, in 2008 the International Soca Awards laid a Green Carpet on the beautiful island of St. Kitts at the Marriott Hotel for (iSA 6), under the patronage of the Honorable Minister of State for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Senator Richard Skerritt. In 2009 the 7th iSA ceremony was canceled in Turks and Caicos due to bad weather conditions. 2010 & 2011 iSA 8-9th was held on the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) under the kind patronage of the Honorable Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism Winston “Gypsy” Peters. In 2012 the 10th Annual International Soca Awards was held in New York at Crystal Manor in Brooklyn. The spice island “jab jab” Grenada hosted the 11th iSA in 2013. The 2014 awards was postponed. In 2015 the awards was an all white iSA ceremony in Queens New York. 2016 iSA 2016 was held in Trinidad & Tobago. 2017 Brooklyn New York. St. Lucia the Helen of the West Indies. saw the light of iSA 15 in 2018. This year, iSA sweet sixteen promises to be the biggest yet, showcasing the absolute best talent that the Caribbean has to offer, with the usually highly anticipated live performances by the top international Soca Artists. A very high profile international entertainment superstar is expected to be the "Special Invited Guest Presenter", at our 2019 awards.

The International Soca Awards includes all artiste that are actively producing music . It is not limited to any Caribbean island and it welcomes all Soca entertainers from around the worlds, who have continuously worked, or those has made a difference by their contents, imagination, and particular, have made tremendous advancements for the arts. Such honors were bestowed to Calypso & Soca greats such as; Dr. Slinger “Mighty Sparrow” Francisco, Mr. “Hot Hot Hot” Alphonso “Arrow” Cassel, the Mother of Calypso, Dr. Mrs. Mcartha “Calypso Rose” Sandy Lewis and the Original Love Man of Calypso, Mr. Robert “Lord Nelson” Nelson “All Ah We Is One Family”.

The SAO has a team if motivated individuals that make up a unit of skilled and qualified professionals and lovers of the genre. Mr. Jackman and his team have proclaimed to the world that their love for Calypso and Soca is unwavering and that they will continuously work towards the dream of “Taking Soca to Higher Height”.


International Soca Awards (iSA 16)

The 16th Annual INTERNATIONAL SOCA AWARDS TM is scheduled to take place on Thursday October 10th, 2019 at Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. 3800 North West 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311.


The Annual INTERNATIONAL SOCA AWARDS TM is the Caribbean’s 

equivalent of the Grammy, Hip Hop, MTV and BET Awards, where exponents 

of the Soca Music art form, are recognized and rewarded for achievement and excellence in various categories. This gala event is "The Premiere Event of the Soca Music Industry"  a presentation of the Soca Awards Organization Inc. & SAO Soca Awards LTD., whose founder and CEO is young and ambitious Trinidadian entrepreneur COLIN JACKMAN.
